This is my youngest daughter at age three, and my second pastel portrait, around 1989. Before this, I did drawings of people in pencil, charcoal and ink and had dabbled in acrylics, but when I tried pastels, it seemed the perfect media for me.

The portrait of this sweet little girl was my first pastel for someone else. The lace collar was a challenge, but I really had fun capturing the light in her hair and her big, beautiful eyes.
